Physiotherapist | Commercial Drive, Vancouver
Areas of Expertise: Knee injuries, Osteoarthritis, Whiplash, Tendon injuries, Vestibular problems, Concussion, Low Back Pain, Shoulder Injuries
Growing up I played all sorts of sports: soccer, basketball, lacrosse, volleyball, badminton - even some table tennis. I had the good fortune of working with fantastic physiotherapists who supported me getting back to what I loved. Later on, when pondering what to do with my life, these experiences loomed large; I could now put my nerdiness to use helping people get back to doing the things they love: be it on a sports field or more generally in the field of life. I can honestly say I equally enjoy working with an athlete getting back to high performance competition as working with a grandmother wanting to lift her grandkids with less pain.
I enjoy pondering big questions in physiotherapy and am happiest when I am learning new things. I worked for 4 years as the Education Manager at the Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia - working with some of the smartest minds in physiotherapy for courses and conferences on physiotherapy best practice. You will regularly see me talking with other physiotherapists about how to best treat different conditions or better build a relationship with a patient. I also love teaching - be it mentoring clinicians in my role as Clinic Director in Vancouver or teaching "Learning Nights" for local physiotherapists. My clinical philosophy can be summed in the phrase "movement optimism" - I believe that our bodies are profoundly adaptable with the right treatment and support. A treatment session with me will often consist of manual therapy, education around what is likely causing the issue, and coaching through movement or exercise.
These days in my spare time I am loving discovering the world with my young daughter and wife, running in my hometown of Richmond (it’s nice and flat!) and competing in trivia nights and board games with friends.
