Joelle McCartie
Registered Massage Therapist | Panorama Rec
Areas of Expertise: Headaches, Low Back Pain, Neck Pain, Neuroplastic Pain, TMJ Dysfunction
I was drawn to studying massage therapy from an early age. As a dancer growing up, I experienced the benefits of massage therapy firsthand and knew I wanted to help others feel their best while doing the activities they love.
I focus on educating patients about what they can do, rather than what they can’t—even when they are dealing with an injury. In 2013, after experiencing a back injury, I took a deep dive into learning about neuroplastic pain. I found the knowledge I gained to be incredibly helpful in my own recovery, which inspired me to continue studying how to share this information with patients. I take great pride in educating my patients, when appropriate, about neuroplastic pain and empowering them with knowledge that can support their recovery.
I have always been very active and interested in physical performance. I enjoy many forms of physical activity and love challenging myself in different ways. I trained and raced in triathlon for many years, as well as trail and road running. Currently, my main focus is strength training, with some trail running and biking on the side.
I have two daughters who are the lights of my life and keep me very busy. Outside of work, you’ll often find me cooking for my family, coaching my daughters’ soccer teams, hiking, strength training, and getting to bed as early as possible!

Low Back Pain: I use an approach to give appropriate advice regarding exercise prescription and movement recommendations as well as provide passive modalities to give symptomatic relief.
Headaches: Headaches can come from a variety of reasons so I like to take a thorough history to find the source of their headaches then give advice to help as well as provide passive modalities to give symptomatic relief.
TMJ Dysfunction: After taking a thorough history to determine the cause I give self massage recommendations and provide external as well as intra-oral massage (if indicated) to provide relief.
Neuroplastic Pain: After determining with the patient if this is what they are experiencing through history taking and testing I provide an explanation of what neuroplastic pain is and give advice on how to 're train' the brain to eliminate or ease symptoms.
