What to Expect

-
Our Acupuncture treatments start where your practitioner will investigate your primary concern and seek to better understand your overall health and your health history. Acupuncturists may take your pulse and make other observations to further assess and understand the root cause of concerns. After the discussion, you will receive an acupuncture treatment lasting between 30 to 60 minutes to address the conditions that you discussed.
-
Your follow-up appointments build on your progress and allow your Acupuncturist to monitor changes in your symptoms, health, and treatment goals. Based on your response to previous treatments, your practitioner may adjust your care plan and provide an acupuncture treatment tailored to your current needs. Follow-up treatments typically last between 30 and 45 minutes.
FAQs
-
Many extended health plans include acupuncture coverage. Tall Tree Health direct bills most providers. We also direct bill ICBC for eligible claims. Check your plan details for your annual acupuncture benefit.

Most people experience minimal discomfort. Acupuncture needles are very fine — much thinner than a hypodermic needle. You may feel a brief sensation when a needle is inserted, often described as a dull ache or tingling, which typically fades quickly.
-
Acupuncture is used to treat chronic and acute pain, headaches and migraines, stress and anxiety, digestive issues, sleep problems, and more. At Tall Tree it's commonly used alongside physiotherapy and massage therapy for musculoskeletal conditions.
-
This depends on your condition. Acute conditions may resolve in 3–6 sessions; chronic conditions often benefit from longer-term care. Your acupuncturist will discuss a realistic treatment plan at your first visit.
-
Initial visits are 60 minutes, which includes a health assessment and treatment. Follow-up sessions are 30–45 minutes.
-
Yes — acupuncture is performed by a registered acupuncturist and takes a holistic approach informed by traditional Chinese medicine and modern evidence. Dry needling is a physiotherapy technique targeting trigger points. Tall Tree offers both, through different practitioners.

Chinese herbal medicine is a respected ancient and modern form of medicine. Chinese herbalists have refined the art of making herbal formulas, which are a specific composition of herbs made for an individual, with the purpose of treating both the current symptoms (the branch), and the underlying cause of disease (the root).
Chinese herbal medicine can work in combination with acupuncture and other treatments and can be considered for any chronic, stubborn and complex internal illness that has not yet been successfully treated.
We are a member of the ICBC Recovery Network which is a group of allied health care practitioners and clinics who can direct bill ICBC during your recovery. It includes acupuncturists, chiropractors, counsellors, kinesiologists, massage therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and psychologists.
