Growing up in Victoria, Matt led an active lifestyle full of soccer, hiking, golfing, snowboarding and, ultimately, a few injuries along the way. The subsequent time spent working with physiotherapists sparked his ambition and excitement to work in the clinical setting. Matt’s love of learning, of helping others, and of the human body made a career in Physiotherapy the perfect fit.
Matt has completed his Kinesiology degree at UVIC, masters in Physiotherapy at UBC, and finally his Transitional Doctorate in Physical Therapy through EIM in the states. Matt first connected with the PT team at Tall Tree by way of their Education Program (AMP Healthcare Education). He found their philosophies and progressive stance resonated with him; in particular, he was drawn to their evidence-led practice and their focus on client-centered care. Matt is what he refers to as a life-long learner, continuing taking courses in manual and manipulative therapy, functional dry needling/IMS, and pain education. This drive to learn comes from equal parts curiosity and dedication to provide the best possible treatment for his clients.
Matt has enjoyed a variety of clinical experiences, having worked at a neurological rehab clinic as well as in a musculoskeletal setting. His clinical reasoning and scope of understanding has benefited from these varied exposures.
In addition to the AMP programming, Matt has taken courses in manual and manipulative therapy and has completed the Transitional Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program offered by Evidence In Motion. This drive to learn comes from equal parts curiosity and dedication to provide the best possible treatment for his clients.
Matt’s excited to be living his dream Island life, filled with playing soccer, hiking in Strathcona park, enjoying Mt. Washington, attempting to be handy working on his house, refining his golf game, and enjoying this beautiful place we call home.
