Learn how to work with your ADHD, Not against it

What is ADHD Counselling?

Living with ADHD can feel overwhelming, confusing, or exhausting—especially when it seems like everyday tasks take more effort than they should. It can impact every part of your life—and it’s about so much more than focus. Because no two people experience ADHD in the same way, a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work. Tall Tree’s ADHD counselling meets you where you’re at, focusing on building self-understanding and practical, personalized tools that support how you live, work, and relate—so your ADHD works with you, not against you.

What can ADHD Counselling help with?

  • Navigating conflict, improving communication, and strengthening relationships at home, school, or work.

  • Support with time management, organization, planning, and follow-through.

  • Addressing anxiety, low confidence, shame, and negative self-talk often linked with ADHD.

  • Managing emotions, frustration, reactivity, and burnout that often come with ADHD.

FAQs

  • No. Our Registered Clinical Counsellors do not conduct ADHD assessments, provide diagnoses, or prescribe medication. They do, however, offer counselling support to help you better understand ADHD-related challenges, develop practical strategies, and navigate daily life. If a formal assessment or medical support would be beneficial, your counsellor can help guide you toward appropriate referral options.

  • No, a formal ADHD diagnosis is not required to begin counselling. Many individuals seek support because they recognize ADHD-related challenges in their daily lives, such as difficulties with focus, organization, emotional regulation, or overwhelm. ADHD counselling can help you better understand these experiences and develop strategies that support your goals, whether or not you have a diagnosis.

  • ADHD counselling is specifically designed to address the ways ADHD affects daily functioning, emotional well-being, and relationships. It blends therapeutic support with practical, skills-based strategies. While general counselling often focuses solely on emotional health.

  • Yes. While medication can be an important component of ADHD support, it does not address all aspects of living with ADHD. Counselling complements medication by supporting skill development, emotional regulation, self-understanding, and strategies for managing day-to-day challenges at home, school, or work.

  • ADHD counselling is available for children, teens, and adults, as well as parents and caregivers. Support is tailored to each stage of life and may include helping children build emotional regulation skills, supporting teens with academic and social challenges, assisting adults with work and relationships, or guiding parents in understanding and supporting their child’s needs.

  • ADHD counselling is offered for individuals only. Sessions are focused on supporting your personal experience with ADHD, helping you build self-understanding, develop practical strategies, and strengthen skills that support your daily life, relationships, and overall well-being.

Registered Clinical Counsellor

I believe that counselling shouldn’t be complicated - it’s the simple process of getting to know yourself in a new light, and making the conscious choice to approach old challenges in new ways. Often it isn’t clear which direction holds the right footing to make our first steps, but together we can make our steps meaningful ones.

I like to take a humanistic-existential approach to counselling. This often sounds very daunting for folks, but it simply means that people heal in relationship to others! Together we will create a counselling space based in empathy and authenticity while chatting about where you find life’s meaning. I also practice: EFT, narrative therapy, CBT, and ACT.

Sometimes we may wish that there was a math equation that could solve life’s challenges. Sadly, calculus just can’t tell you about the human experience. If you are looking for a genuine and nonjudgemental person to throw around some thoughts and feelings with, you can find me at Tall Tree Health in James Bay or book a virtual appointment with me.
