  • The group format offers several advantages in the treatment of anxiety, including the opportunity for patients to meet others with similar challenges, support and help each other, and reinforce their progress. For individuals with social anxiety, groups also provide important “real life” opportunities within a safe environment to disrupt anxious thoughts and practice new ways of relating to others.

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is the "gold standard" or the best available psychological treatment for anxiety disorders. It is a short-term, goal-oriented treatment that helps people identify and change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour that keep them stuck. CBT is different from many other therapeutic approaches because it focuses on the ways that a person's cognitions (thoughts), emotions, and behaviours are connected and affect one another.

  • This course will be facilitated by Tall Tree mental health professionals Dr. Jo Epping-Jordan (Registered Psychologist) and Cassi Starc (Registered Occupational Therapist). Jo and Cassi each have extensive experience leading psychoeducational groups and working with people who have anxiety. They are excited to be now teaming up to offer this time-limited course.
