OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

What is OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY?

Occupational Therapy (OT) helps people who are experiencing difficulty in day-to-day activities due to injury, illness, or disability. Occupational therapists at Tall Tree follow a patient-centred practice that begins by looking at the areas of occupational performance (or daily functioning) that have been impaired.

Tall Tree provides a unique service aimed at treating the whole person physically, mentally, and emotionally; supporting them in their journey to live life to the fullest.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

INITIAL VISIT: 60 MIN

SUBSEQUENT VISIT: 60 MIN

Our OT evaluation will explore what factors contribute to problems with basic function (whether they are physical, cognitive, psychological, or social). Together, we will develop goals to address your current limitations.

Sessions may include:

  • Improving deficits related to cognitive and perceptual abilities.
  • Functional treatment programs; eg. one-on-one Yoga Therapy and Therapeutic Exercise.
  • In-home functional assessments ; eg. improvements in home-setup and suggested specialized equipment. These recommendations will enable the patient's success with daily activities and their ability to live independently.
  • P atient education; eg. injury prevention, ergonomics, body mechanics, work simplification, joint protection, energy conservation, relaxation, and pain management.
