What is Kinesiology?

Kinesiology is the science of human movement; as a profession, Kinesiology professionals apply the latest exercise science to improve the health, performance, and ability of their clients; who range from athletes to seniors to people in chronic pain.  Kinesiology excels at preventing injury and chronic disease. 

There is compelling research that illustrates the value of what Kinesiology offers. Proper exercise can cut in half the risk of dying from a second heart event; be twice as effective in treating type 2 diabetes than standard insulin administration alone; reduce mortality and the risk of recurrent cancer by 50%; and can decrease depression as effectively as any medication or behavioural therapy.

Kinesiology, like Physical Therapy, uses exercise and education in the management and treatment of injury and chronic disease. Ultimately, Kinesiology helps clients improve their health, quality of life, and ability to participate in the things they love to do.

About Hydrotherapy

Aqua Therapy (aka hydrotherapy) consists of therapeutic exercises performed in the water, typically for the purpose of rehabilitation. A Tall Tree kinesiologist will work with you in the water and guide you through an exercise program specifically designed for you and your needs.

The major benefit of hydrotherapy is that it is minimally or non-weight bearing; an appealing concept for anyone suffering from a issue where pain and tissue tolerance are limitations to exercising on dry land.

Swimming Exercises

Some of the patients we commonly work with in the water present with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, low back pain, knee or hip pain, general de-conditioning, or with a post-surgical rehab program.

Hydrotherapy with Tall Tree is conducted at Panorama Recreation Centre. The rehab benefits of hydrotherapy are outstanding. But perhaps what is most appealing is how much fun it is to rehab, exercise, and get fit in the water.
